The “Aldo Palazzeschi” Study Centre (Department of Literature and Philosophy) opened in 1999 and is currently directed by Prof. Simone Magherini. It is devoted to preserving, promoting and printing manuscripts and iconographical materials inherited from Aldo Palazzeschi in 1974.
In recent years, the centre has acquired new document and manuscript archives related to the late writer’s biography and works, and since the Writers’ Papers Online project, it has also specialised in creating IT tools for archiving and studying manuscript archives of literary interest.
The study centre promotes learning about Palazzeschi and the literary culture of historical avant-gardes in Italy and abroad, through publications, exhibitions and multimedia materials, as well as by organising conventions, meetings and scientific seminars. We welcome international involvement on projects that contribute to developing various themes in Italian literary criticism. In accordance with testamentary disposition, the “Aldo Palazzeschi” Study Centre also finances scholarships and bursaries for deserving Florence University students pursuing research in Italian Studies.
